Zmitser Zhaleznichenka nominated for students' peace prize

The youth wing of the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front has called on all civil and human rights groups and the media to join a campaign of solidarity with Zmitser Zhaleznichenka and to support his candidature.

The opposition activist has been expelled twice from the Homel University. On January 25, he was drafted to serve in the army where he announced a hunger strike.

The students' peace prize will be awarded for the sixth time in Norway in 2009. This is the world's only prize from students to students who fight for peace and their rights, reports the press office of the Belarusian Popular Front.

To make Zhaleznichenka win, letters with his name should be sent to [email protected] before February 11, 2008.
