Youth initiative StudAlliance organizes “Insurgent Chain” in Vilnius
A youth initiative StudAlliance is organizing an action “Insurgent Chain” in Vilnius. Its aim is protecting the cross in Lukishki Square installed in memory of insurgents of 1863. According to the plans of reconstruction of Lukishki Square, only one project preserves the initial position of the memorial cross. Other projects assume that the memorial should be demolished.
The organizers have appointed the action for March 22 – it will be 145 years since the leader of the uprising Kalinouski was hanged in Lukishki Square.
Poles, Lithuanians and other interested people are invited to join the action. They are invited to gather near the cross with their national symbols, flowers, candles and posters at 2 p.m.
The action is officially authorized by Vilnius government.
