Youth Front activist Artsiom Dubski stands trial in Asipovichy

The trial of Artsiom Dubski, an activist with the international youth pressure group Youth Front, opened on July 7 at the Asipovichy District Court. He is being charged with avoiding the punishment of restricted freedom.
In April 2008, Dubski was sentenced to two years of restricted freedom for taking part in a street action staged by entrepreneurs. In October 2008, after a criminal case had been opened against him, Dubski sought a political asylum in Ukraine but later recalled his application. In February 2009 when he was freed under a written undertaking to leave the country, Dubski was behind bars.

Belapan reminds that the human rights watchdog Amnesty International recognized Artsiom Dubski and ten more activists, convicted for taking part in the protests of entrepreneurs as "prisoners of consciousness".
