Yanukevich also gets fined for protest against Russian military base

Chairman of the BPF Aliaksei Yanukevich has been fined 3.6 million rubles (20 basic units) for participation in the rally against the deployment of the Russian military base in Belarus. The decision was passed by the Central District Court of the capital. Politics was found guilty of participating in an unauthorized mass event.

On the same day the court passed a similar judgement on and fined 20 basic units the first deputy head of the Movement For Freedom Yury Hubarevich, BelaPAN reports.

Previously, for organizing this event and participation in it opposition politicians Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, Mikalai Statkevich, Vyachaslau Siuchyk, Anatol Lyabedzka, as well as social activists Aliaksandr Miekh, Ales Talstyka and artist Ales Marachkin received various fines.

The campaign "For Peaceful and Neutral Belarus" was held October 4 at the capital's Freedom Square in the form of the national assembly. It was attended by several hundred people.
