What do Belarusians need free Venezuelan visas for?

You need two changes to reach Karaks and a return ticket will cost 1058 dollars. Moreover, you need to be vaccinated 18 months before your trip and to pay 200 dollars for it. Belarusians will need no visa to go to Venezuela in 6 months due to good-neighborly relations of Belarus with Hugo Chaves’s country. Of course, it is good when you do not need a visa to go to a country and it is a nice argument to choose it for spending your vacations and for tourism. But ERB decided to find out whether the cancellation of visas can be a decisive argument for visiting this country.

A tourist visa costs 30 dollars for Belarusians at the moment, informed the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic:

“A tourist visa costs 30 dollars. In any case a tourist visa is given out individually and it usually takes a week to prepare it”.

But documents and a visa are the first step towards the country of waterfalls. You need to reach Venezuela somehow. The only way to go to Caracas, the capital of Bolivar’s homeland, is by plane. And you will have to make changes. The “Belavia” company offers a flight from Minsk with two changes in Europe:

“It will be rather expensive with two changes. Minsk-Vienna, Vienna-Milan, Milan-Caracas. A return ticket costs 1058 dollars. You can make a change in Paris but it will not make much of a difference and you will need two changes anyway. If you do not leave the transit zone during changes you do not need the visas of the countries”.

But you really have something to look at in Venezuela! First of all it is the highest waterfall in the world – Angel which is 10 times higher than Niagara Falls. You can look at cathedrals built in conquistadors’ times and visit the Panteon National – the house were the legendary Simon Bolivar was born. Moreover, the grave of the revolutionist at Plaza Bolivar is not far from there.

The most popular place for spending vacations is Isla-de-Margarita. It is a small island not far from the Venezuelan coast, a worship place for many tourists. Prices in hotels are comparable to those in Europe – you will have to pay about 70 dollars per day for a single room in a three-star hotel.

But you need to be vaccinated before going to enjoy Venezuelan waterfalls. Yellow fever is the commonest illness in Latin America. You can be vaccinated in Minsk polyclinic #19 for free:

“If you are a Belarusian citizen you can be vaccinated against yellow fever for free. And you need your physician’s reference proving that you are healthy”.

A medical centre “LODE” informed ERB that you also needed to be vaccinated against hepatitis A and B 18 months before your trip:

“You will need to be vaccinated against hepatitis A and B. The scheme is like that: three vaccinations against hepatitis A – after 6 and 12 months after the first one. And three vaccinations against hepatitis B –1 mBelarusians will need no visa to go to Venezuela in 6 months due to good-neighborly relations of Belarus with Hugo Chaves’s country. If you decide to get vaccinated against all illnesses specific to Venezuela you will have to spend about 18 months and 200 dollars…

By the way, Belarusian traveling agencies offer no tours to Venezuela at the moment. Natallya, an employee of “Belintourist” says:

“We do not organizer such tours”.

It turns out that if you decide to visit the country of Bolivar and Hugo Chavez you should start getting ready 18 months before the trip and be vaccinated. Start collecting money too: besides the 1058-dollar flight you will need money as if you were in Europe – about 100-150 dollars per day. That’s the cost of a hotel room, food and excursions.
