Vіka Maroz: “I want to see Emmanuel myself!”
The most famous Belarusian orphan Vika Maroz should have departed for vacations in Italy. But her motherland did not let her leave its tight embrace. Journalists from the “Salidarnast” newspaper managed to talk to the girl and find out what had happened at the airport. Let us remind you that Italian mass media wrote that the 11-year-old Vika Maroz should have left for Cogoleto on August 2. The girl’s tutors, the Vasileuskis, accompanied her to the airport. It was the only way for Vika to meet those who she considers to be her mother and father – Maria Chiara Bornacin and Alessandro Giusto. The Mayor of Cogoleto and the mother of Maria Chiara Bornacin arrived to the Italian airport to meet Belarusians. However, they did it in vain.
“Salidarnast” phoned Vika Maroz’s foster parents in Zhodzina trying to find out what happened. The girl answered the phone. She had the same answer for all questions “I don’t know, I don’t know”.
The journalists asked Vika to call Alena Uladzimirauna Vasileuskaya or any other adult to talk to them. They heard the girl saying: “Aunt Lena, it’s a journalist!” Several minutes later the girl said she was alone at home. Alena Uladzimirauna does not want to communicate with journalists for some reason.
The conversation of the journalists with Vika Maroz looked like that:
– Vika, did you go to the airport last week?
– Yes, we did. But they didn’t let us board the plane…
– Why?
– I don’t know.
– Will you try to go to Italy again?
– I will, but I don’t know when.
– Did your relatives Maria Chiara Bornacin and Alessandro Giusto phone you the other day?
– They did.
– What did you talk about?
– I don’t remember.
– Do you know that a son Emmanuel was born to them?
– I do. I’m happy, but I want to see him myself.

The lawyer of the Belarusian Ambassador to Rome explained that the problem was caused by some legal formalities that the organization responsible for the trip did not take into account. There is no exact answer why the little Vika did not manage to see the little Emmanuel.
