V.Akudovich: Belarus has been part of “axis of evil” since September 11, 2001
The USA is commemorating victims of the tragedy of September 11, 2001 when almost 3 thousand people died in a terrorist attack against the World Trade Centre in New York. Is the terrorist act related to Belarus? ERB asked a philosopher Valyantsin Akudovich about it.
Akudovich: I think that the world of September 11 does no differ from the world of September 10. The terrorist act simply demonstrated the world we live in. Speaking about Belarus, we were influenced by a global anti-terrorism action initiated by the American government. It indicated the origin of terrorism and started dealing with such places having united them in the notion of “the axis of evil”. It added Belarus to the states of “the axis of evil”. The actions and attitude of the American government were not caused by the lack of democracy in the Belarusian government. They were caused by the idea that any non-democratic government has a terrorist potential.
