UN Human Rights Council listens to report on Belarus

The fifth session of the United Nations Human Rights Council has started in the Palace of Nations in Geneva on June 11. The Human Rights Council member states will discuss a new way of periodical review of the situation with human rights in all countries, regardless of their good or bad reputation. That will be the main difference of the new Council if compared to its predecessor – Commission on Human Rights

Furthermore, participants of the session will listen to reports on Belarus, the Congo, Cambodia, Somali, Cuba and Haiti and to “subject” speakers. In particular, issues of independence of courts and lawyers, racism and the right of residence will be discussed.

The session will last till June 18.
