Two youth leaders sentenced to 15, 7 days of arrest

Two youth opposition activists today appeared at the Minsk's Zavodsky District Court on charges of petty hooliganism. Yaraslaw Gryschenya was sentenced to 15 days, while Franak Viachorka received 7 days of arrest in a police custody. The two young activists were detained on July 27 in Minsk.

Flyers calling on the public to take part in the opposition-staged meetings on July 27 to mark the Belarus's Independence Declaration anniversary were found on them. They remained at a detention center over the weekend to await the trial, according to Belapan.
