Three Belarusians nominated for Nobel prizes

The Nobel Institute in Oslo will announce the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, October 12. A total of 181 candidates, including 135 private persons and 46 organizations, are nominated for this prize this year. The list of nominees for the peace prize also includes two Belarus nationals. Human rights activist Ales Bialiatski is shortlisted for the second time in a row. Stanislau Shushkevich, the chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada and the forner speaker of the Belarusian parliament, is nominated for the first time, reports the press office of the Viasna human rights center.

Poet Ryhor Baradulin is nominated for the second time for the literature prize.
