There are more than 42 thousand officially jobless people in Belarus

There were 42.3 thousand jobless people officially registered by placement and social protection services and at the end of July. According to the Belarusian Ministry of Statistics and Analysis, it is 9.5% fewer that at the end of July 2007. Registered jobless people make up 0.9% of the participation rate (cf.: the index was 1% at the end of July 2007.) The majority of jobless people can be found in Homel and Brest Regions – 7.8 and 7.7 thousand people respectively. The fewest jobless people live in Minsk Region (3.6 thousands). Their average age is 35.

196 thousands citizens asked to help them with placement in January-July this year. 123 thousands were officially registered as jobless.
The average welfare was 46 thousand roubles in July 2008 or 21% of the living wage.
