Terrorists shoot down Ukrainian helicopter, general dead
14 Ukrainian troops and a general were killed near Sloviansk, Donetsk Oblast today after a military helicopter was shot down by terrorists.
“Terrorists have used Russian man-portable air-defense systems to shoot down our helicopter transporting soldiers,” head of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov said. “14 soldiers and general Kulchitski have died.”
The MI-8 brought food, water and bulletproof vests to Mount Karachun, UNIAN reports. Soldiers leaving for vacations boarded the helicopter that shot down a few minutes later. The fuel tanks exploded, nobody survived.
This is the third helicopter shot down by militants.
