Suzdaltsev: Almost a million people will leave Belarus soon

Euroradio: You have concluded that silent actions are played out in one of your recent articles dedicated to Belarus. Is it connected only with the little number of people who took part in the action last Wednesday?

Suzdaltsev: “It is a very interesting format. I wholeheartedly support it in my articles because this is a real kind of folk art – something the Belarusian society lacked to struggle with the regime. However, it should not have been limited to it. The organizers were limited to the format, a very interesting format, but they did not finish it…

They lacked creativity and political experience. Nevertheless, it was very positive and it was organized wonderfully on that level. It is necessary to keep moving in this direction because it will lead to the democratisation of the republic”.

Euroradio: You wrote in you publication that Belarusians were facing a choice…

Suzdaltsev: “Every citizen should make a choice: to remain silent, to put up with it, to support the Belarusian government or to pack and leave which is very popular nowadays. According to approximate calculations, almost a million people will leave Belarus in the next two months”.

Euroradio: You recalled the words pronounced by the head of the official trade unions – Leanid Kozik – who said that Alyaksandr Lukashenka should be nominated for the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences. You said that it was scoffing.  Can the nomenklatura afford it now?

Suzdaltsev: “The nomenklatura is heterogeneous now. The medium and the poor nomenklatura is dissatisfied with the authorities. They are poor people responsible for everything… The higher nomenklatura clearly understands everything. It understands that this is isolation and that it will result in jokes and mockery all over the world. The behaviour is really scoffing …”.
