Students to organize ‘love and solidarity march’ in Minsk
Its organizers want ‘students’ opinion to be taken into account’, they demand ‘self-administration’ and ‘education system reforms’
Belarusian students are planning to gather at ‘a love and solidarity march’ in Minsk. The idea has been reported in social networks.
"This is our chance to show the university administration and the Ministry of Education that we demand real reforms in the higher education instead of trying to conceal their failure behind ‘fines and extortion’... We demand that all the three sides – the administration, teachers and students – were involved in the administration of university life on equal terms,” the organizers said.
BSU students collected 2.5 thousand signatures against fees for retaking examinations. However, the university administration ignored their opinion. Students of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University joined BSU students later.
It is not clear whether the organizers have asked the city authorities for permission to organize the action.
