Stefanovich: Registration denial is a political discrimination

The Ministry of Justice has denied registration to the civil human rights group Nasha Viasna on the grounds that the participants of the congress could gather at the premises of the United Civic Party and other formality reasons.
In an interview with the European Radio for Belarus, Stefanovich said::

“The justice ministry official (Kharyton) calculated that 53.7 percent of the founders had earlier been subjected to administrative prosecution and had not been law-obeying citizens. This is ridiculous, because the law has no provision for law-obedience for rejecting registration to a civil group”.

Stefanovich said his organization would appeal the rejection of the Justice Ministry on the grounds of political discrimination.
