Stars have to sing to make driving inspectorate let them off

Palina Smolava usually smiles to avoid paying the fine and to keep her driving license, Vadzim Kasalapau sings and Hanna Sharkunova is even ready to dance.

In connection with the recent notorious scandals connected with the driving inspectorate ERB has decided to find out how Belarusian pop stars settled their problems with it. It turned out that is was easier for women to settle down their problems with the driving inspectorate. Palina Smolava told ERB what a woman’s smile was good for. She has been living in Moscow for about a year:

Smolava: “It is more difficult for men in Moscow. Girls can smile and kind policemen will be merciful. I was heading for Zarachyn to give a performance the other day, I was in a hurry and the driving inspectorate stopped me three times. The last policeman said: “Enough! We are depriving you of your driving license for 6 months.” I asked: “How come? How will I be driving then?”. My female self helped. And of course, kindness and smiles can save the world. That is why it is necessary to smile more often – and everything will be ok”.

However, Dzima Kaldun who has recently moved to the Russian capital too was not that lucky. Even his famous smile did not save him. Dzima has not even celebrated the first anniversary of getting his driving license. The singer’s license was taken away. Kaldun was driving along Petrovka in his jeep in the wrong direction and did not even notice it was a one-way road.

Unlike the “factory graduate”, a famous TV presenter and singer Larysa Hrybalyova has never had serious problems with the driving inspectorate. The singer has been driving for 11 years and there is not a single remark in her license:

Hrybaleva: “I have very good relations with the driving inspectorate. They recognize me, they don’t do it immediately but they do recognize me several minutes afterwards. I usually don’t have to get out of my car. I have never asked to let me off if I violated a rule but in fact it is a rare thing to happen. Usually they check my documents and when they see me they understand there is nothing to check because they already know me”.

However, male stars find it more difficult to settle everything down with policemen. For example, when Larysa Hrybalyova may stay in her car, the leader of the “NEO” band Vadzim Kasalapau has to get out of the car and sing:

Kasalapau: “I had to sing an extract from one of my songs to make a policeman let me off. I had no money on me! I could have paid him on the spot but I did not have any money. And I did not want to lose my driving license. Then he said: “”What is that song of yours? Can you remind me?” So I had to remind it to him”.

A young singer Hanna Sharkunova has not had any serious problems with the driving inspectorate yet. However, the girl said to ERB that she had been the reason for dangerous road situations quite a lot:

Sharkunova: “Drivers laugh because I like singing while driving. I sing and saw the air. I rehearse new songs and I must look funny. Thanks God it cheers someone up”.

Alyaksandr Tsihanovich seems to have the best relations with the Belarusian driving inspectorate. However, the singer says it does not let him avoid responsibility:

Tsіhanovіch: “They recognize me all the time. Many driving inspectors are friendly with me. They all know me and I know all of them. I am pleased about being recognized. However, I get fined just like anybody else. The only good thing is that they do not delay me for a long time because the know me. But the road is the road”.
