Activists of the committee to organize the social democratic party People’s Hramada were detained at the official trade union’s action in Minsk on 1 May, party leader Mikalai Statkevich reported in social media.

The activists attended the official meeting in Victory Park, he wrote.

"A group of party activists came to the meeting with national flags and posters containing social demands. The police detained five of them.  If they are sentenced to an administrative arrest for the 1 May action, they will go on hunger strike, secretary general of People’s Hramada Syarhei Sparysh and head of the city committee Valyantsin Trotski said. The detained are in Central District Department. They have refused to face the wall," Statkevich wrote.

The activists demanded to cancel Decree No1 (the new freeloaders tax) and wanted Alyaksandr Lukashenka to resign.

Besides Sparysh, Trotski and Andrei Shypulin, the police detained a few other people who were just taking photos near the posters.
