Shumchanka, Statkevich apply for entrepreneurs’ march on March 14 in Minsk

Шумчанка і Статкевіч падалі заяўку на марш прадпрымальнікаў у Мінску 14 сакавіка

The activists applied for another entrepreneurs’ march on February 23. The action is scheduled for March 14. Head of the civil association Perspectiva Anatol Shumchanka and ex-political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich have applied for the action, BelaPAN reports.

Their aim is economic, not political, Shumchanka said. The march organizers want to draw Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s attention to private entrepreneurs’ problems and want to ask him to cancel decree #222 and a number of other laws as soon as possible.

The march will be held at 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. The action participants are planning to gather near the Academy of Sciences and walk towards the Park of People’s Friendship in Bangalore Square along Arlouskaya and Surhanava Streets. They will have a meeting in the park.

The authorities will probably allow the action because there is a political thaw now, Shumchanka thinks. “We are not trying to destabilize the situation in the country. The government has plenty of space for maneuvers now - solve the problem and we will live in peace,” the leader of entrepreneurs said.

If Minsk authorities do not allow the march, entrepreneurs’ problems will be mentioned on Freedom Day – March 25.
