Shoigu: Belarus-Russia military exercise Union Shield planned for 2015
The Russian defense minister Sergey Shoigu says the Union Shield 2015 drills will take place in Russia.
Russian Minister of Defence Sergei Shoigu commented on the results if the joint meeting of representatives of the Russian and Belarusian Ministries of Defence in Moscow. The results of the manoeuvres West-2013 held in Belarus conducted together with Russia were also discussed at the meeting.
The usage of the Russian-Belarusian regional military alignment will be practiced during Union Shield-2015, BELTA reports.
Preparation for a Russian airbase deployment in Belarus is finishing, Sergei Shoigu noted. “We have started practical preparation for deploying a Russian airbase on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The required documents are being prepared now,” Shoigu said.
