Senators approve fingerprinting and changes in Election Code

The Council of the Republic has approved obligatory fingerprinting for people liable for call-up aged from 18 to 55. The first undersecretary of the Minister of Internal Affairs Aleh Pyakarski has noted that it will increase the efficiency of the police in providing civil security.

Furthermore, he noted that obligatory fingerprinting was being tried out on solders as the police were not ready to fingerprint the whole population.

Senators have unanimously approved changes in the Election Code today. Presenting the project,the head of the Central Election Committee Lidziya Yarmoshyna stressed that the changes were progressive and would increase the transparency of election and increase competition, informs “Interfax-West”.
