Russian scientists confirm Europe's center in Polatsk

The location of Europe's geographical center in the Belarusian town of Polatsk has been confirmed by Russian researchers. They used the methodology which describes Europe as a space between the White Sea and the Baltic Sea. A special computer program pointed to Polatsk as Europe's goegraphical center.

The memorial sign "The Center of Europe" will be unveiled in Polatsk on May 31, 2008, reports the official news agency Belta.

Towns in Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic are also the contenders for the Europe's heart title.
