Russian producer beats Belarus official at Eurovision
The Russian producer and singer, Phillip Kirkorov, now in Finland to do the final touches with his protege Dzmitry Kaldun of Belarus for the Eurovision singing contest, hit Yury Azaronak, the head of the Belarus delegation, in his face.
The conflict broke out when one of Kaldun's dancers needed a car to go to a hospital after feeling sick, but Azaronak refused to provide transport.
Kirkorov failed to hold his temper and hit the head of the Belarus TV delegation in his face right in the press center in presence of many. Azaronak lost balance and grabbed his face but later calmed down. The conflict was eventually resolved, writes Tvoy Den newspaper.
Azaronak and Kirkorov have been in conflict since the preparatory stage.
The Russian singer is the second person who beat Azaronak. About 12 years ago, an opposition politician, Mikola Statkevich, slapped Azaronak after he released a propaganda documentary titled "The Children of Lies".
For that, Statkevich had to pay two minimum wages in fines.
