Russian analysts recommend developing ‘a Crimean scenario’ for Belarus, according to the monograph XXI Century World: Forecast of The International Climate For Countries And Regions published by the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), nn.by reports.

The monograph is authored by the research fellows of MGIMO Centre for Military and Political Studies. A chapter in the monograph under the expressive title Belarus: Thorny Path to Integration with Russia is dedicated to our country.

In this work, the analysts have presented a forecast of Belarus’ development until 2050, which envisages an eventual unification of the two countries. They recommend that the Russian authorities replaced Aliaksandr Lukashenka will a more pro-Russia president in order to minimize bloodshed during the annexation. In the view of the authors, Lukashenka fosters nationalists, which will become an obstacle in the bloodless takeover.

Russia needs a plan like the Crimean scenario for the power transfer in Belarus, they suggested.
