Russia set to divert Belarus transit

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Energy has circulated among the relevant government agencies a draft government resolution on the construction of the second leg of the Baltic pipeline network system, aiming to ensure direct oil supplies to Europe and minimize the transit risks.

The analysis conducted jointly by the Ministry of Industry and Energy and Transneft Co. showed that Port Primorsk was the best destination for the flow of Russian energy supplies, as it had all the shipment facilities in place.

The project is expected to enable Russia to reduce its dependency on the exisiting transit pipelines and to ensure the reliability of the Russian exporters.
