Russia hopes Belarus returns money for gas till the end of year
Russia hopes that Minsk will be able to pay out the debt for gas till the end of this year. The Russian Ambassador Alexandr Surikov mentioned it at the press conference in Minsk. “A normal settlement of accounts should be established”, - added the ambassador.
The price for gas was increased from 46.68 USD to 100 USD for 1000 cubic meters of gas for Belarus. Minsk was partially paying for it - 55 USD for 100 cubic meters. As a result the Belarusian debt reached 400 million USD in May.
Surikov thinks that “there is a basis to pay the debt out”. The ambassador supposed that Minsk could use the credit it is going to receive from Moscow. Belarus expects that the credit will be 1.5 billion USD.
