Young Front girls taken for… call girls in Drybin!

Young Front members imprisoned for a picket in support of their leader Zmitser Dashkevich have been released from Drynin detention centre. They have a lot of impressions! Everyone speaks about the food first for some reason. They have different opinions about it. The guys do not complain much. Yauhen Skrabets from Berastse who has been discharged from the army recently, thinks that everything as okay.
Yauhen Skrabets: “The food was okay, they kept within the law. We were given sausages or a cutlet twice a day and we usually had macaroni or porridge in the morning”.

However, the girls, being real “Minsk dolls”, criticized the food much more.

Yulіya Mіhailava: “We ate warm soup – it was okay. We ate cold porridge and it either lacked salt or was too salty. We ate overcooked macaroni and sour potatoes that we could not eat. We wanted potatoes so much and kept asking for them and they finally gave them to us on the seventh day – they were sour and too salty – we could not eat them. We also drank tea – it was so sweet that we could hardly drink it”.

Yuliya says that some of them had health problems due to such meals.

Yulіya Mіhailava: “Many of us were suffering from stomach ache. We kept taking activated charcoal that was sent to us right after the trial”.
The girl is indignant at the fact that they were made to pay for “the cold macaroni”!

Yulіya Mіhailava: “They did not even allow us to receive water and juice so we had to survive on state food and were made to pay 70 thousands for 10 days. And the state also paid 30 thousands for us”.
The girls found out why they had been given cold and sour food when they were released from the detention centre (the guards explained to the girls that it was called “gated out” in prison slang).
Yulіya Mіhailava: “Our food was cold almost all the time because the café “Pronya” it was brought from works only until 3 p.m. and we had supper much later. They tried to heat the food up sometimes but they never succeeded. The food was sour sometimes because they did not have a refrigerator. They did not have anything at all!”
And the girls were taken for “prostitutes” at first in Drybin detention centre!..

Tatstsyana Shaputska: “The funny incident occurred at the very beginning when we were delivered to Drybin detention centre on the evening of August 2. An employee approached the head of the detention centre when we were being registered and started guessing who we were. His first idea was representatives of “the oldest profession”. Having received a negative response, he thought that we were students of Horki Academy detained for hard drinking. He did not manage to guess and the policeman on duty explained what we had been detained for”.
Members of the Young Front found a merry company in the detention centre – Drybin drunkards and horse thieves who had stolen a horse and sold it to a slaughter buyer for 1 million 200 thousand rubles”.
Tatstsyana Shaputska: “Of course, it was like a shock for Drybin detention centre – to accept ten people so late in the evening. They usually have 4 or 5 people imprisoned for drinking or something like that”.
Members of the Young Front witnessed an incident one day – they were almost flooded with faeces!

Tatstsyana Shaputska: “The guys witnessed an interesting incident the day after we had been imprisoned. Their lavatory pan started leaking. One of the guys was sitting on it at that moment! We heard terrible shouts and knocking on the doors. The policeman on duty jumped up! It turned out that there were problems with the pipe - the water penetrated the cells and somebody’s footwear became wet… The water leaked into the corridor and it was impossible to approach the prison cells without stepping in that... in that water. The administration of the detention centre jokingly accused the guys of sabotage and of destroying the detention centre right after their arrival. However, the guys were transferred to a different prison cell on that day”.

The Young Front members found something to do in the other cell. The floor was its weak spot.
Tatstsyana Shaputska: “The floor near the wash-basin was rotten and they guys stepped on it and it got broken somehow. They were two of them in that cell – skinny Yauhen Skrabets and stout Mikola Dzemidzenka. It was funny to hear them asking “who of you broke the floor?!”
