Yanka Kupala Square appears in Ashdod, Israel

The initiative to commemorate the name of the Belarusian minstrel belongs to Belarusian Ambassador in Israel Ihar Lyashchenya, writes the newspaper "Republic". It was supported by the representatives of the Israeli community of Belarusian natives and by the city authorities. Now they discuss installation of the memorial shield in honour of the first People's Poet of Belarus in the square.

Besides, Ashdod is the 6th biggest city in Israel. About 210 thousand people live here. This year Ashdod became the twin-city of Brest.
