Pre-term parliamentary election may take place in Lithuania

The reason for this is the conflict between President Dalia Grybauskaitė and Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius. The discharge of Interior Minister Raimundas Palaitis has become the apple of discord, reports RBK.

Last week, the PM suggested that the Minister should be discharged. He thinks that Palaitis made a mistake when he fired heads of the Service for Financial Crimes Investigation Vitalius Gailis and Vitautas Girzadas. However, the President refused to discharge the Minister.

In the opinion of the Parliament's head, the only way out of the situation is to conduct a pre-term parliamentary election in Summer-2012. Previously it was planned that the election would take place in Autumn.
