Participants of “silent action” to stand trial in Minsk today

According to human rights activists, the majority of the detained are accused of petty hooliganism. Human rights activist Valyantsin Stefanovich has informed Euroradio that about 250 people were detained at the yesterday’s action all over the country. More than 160 of them were detained in Minsk. The majority of the detained were let off without any reports. 13 journalists were also detained and released later.


About 30 more people are accused of petty hooliganism. 

 

In Stefanovich’s opinion, these sentences may be severer than a week ago. He does not exclude that people may be fiend and sentenced to administrative arrests.

 

According to human rights activists, participants of “the silent action” were beaten even after the detention.
