One person killed by blast at “Pinsk Wood”

At least one person has died as a result of an explosion in one of the workshops of Pinsk woodworking plant. 17 people are in the city’s central hospital in a serious condition. Ambulances continue delivering the injured. Pinsk Central Hospital has informed ERB about it.

At the same time, the press secretary of the Emergency Control Ministry Vital Navitski has noted in an interview with ERB:

Navitski: "One person has died. 9 were on the spot at the moment of the accident, 8 people managed to escape on their own and military rescue equipment had to be used to save one man”.

According to witnesses of the tragedy, rescuers cannot put out the fire and enter the workshop at the moment.

"It looks like the fire is only starting”, - said a local inhabitant. According to him, black smoke can be seen from almost everywhere in the city.

There were 30 people in the workshop at the moment of the explosion.

15.00 Pinsk inhabitants have informed ERB that the “Cyclone” plant installed at the Pinsk factory exploded five years ago. One person was killed back then.

The current blast occurred at about 1 p.m. The blast wave smashed window panes in some houses. There is a tar workshop situated near the plant. Tar is flowing in the pipeline - that is why it is difficult to put out the fire.

15.40 The 100 square meter roof collapsed as a result of the explosion in the workshop. Mr. Navistki has informed ERB that the fire has been localized. Rescuers are trying to extinguish separate seats of fire. The debris is being taken to pieces.

Local inhabitants say that no more black smoke can be seen over the plant.
