Meeting with Nyaklyayeu almost disrupted at Minsk book fair

The stand of the Polish Embassy at the book fair in Minsk was dedicated to Jerzy Giedroyc Award. Poland is the main sponsor of the prize and Polish authors' books translated into Belarusian were being given away there. A meeting with poet Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu had to take place there, Pavel Antsipau, press secretary of Giedroyc Award  told Euroradio.

Antsipau: "I was giving out books near the stand of the Polish Embassy with a few other people. A Polish publisher approached us and said that he was going to be in charge of everything there and that he would not allow any events near the stand. He asked us to leave. I phoned the Embassy and the culture attaché arrived. They reached some agreement and we were allowed to return. Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu is making a presentation near the stand of the Polish Embassy now."

About 30 people came to meet Nyaklyayeu. The organizers had to shorten his presentation to 5 minutes. Nyaklyayeu also organized an autograph session.
