Left parties win parliamentary election in France.

The election of half of the upper house of Parliament took place in France on Sunday. Representatives of 44 electoral districts elected 170 senators out of 348. As a result, French left parties celebrate their victory in the Senate election 7 months before the presidential election - they got an absolute majority of votes.

The election's results put Nicolas Sarkozy in a complicated situation - he lost the support of the majority in Parliament.
