Lazavik explains why opposition members cannot join election commissions

CEC spokesperson Mikalai Lazavik has made a speech on the TV channel "Belarus 1", informs BelTA.  According to the official, the opposition has sent many candidates to election commissions but there are very few suitable candidates among them. Lazavik mentioned Hrodna constituency #49 where the UCP had sent 18 candidates. According to the CEC spokesperson, 10 of them had been subjected to criminal and administrative responsibility before and 9 people were jobless. "Such people cannot be allowed to join election commissions", - thinks Lazavik. The district administration found only 1 suitable candidate out of the 18 and included him in the district election commission.

The CEC spokesperson has also claimed that opposition members neglect the responsibilities of members of election commissions. According to him, they use various reasons to skip the meetings of election commissions in Minsk. Thus, Lazavik has complained about the representatives of the party "Fair World", the BPF Party and the United Civil Party.
