KGB returns $10K to Anatol Lyabedzka

The money was confiscated in December 2010 during the search in the apartment of Anatol Lyabedzka. According to the politician, when they decided to close a criminal case against him, he addressed the KGB and the Investigatory Committee several times, asking to return the confiscated money and information carriers. However, the case seems to have moved from the dead spot only now.

Anatol Lyabedzka: "They called me saying I could come. I visited them on Friday (the KGB office - Euroradio), I came to the Entry Control Section. Four people came in, one of them had a video camera. I said "What is going on here, is it some kind of a show, with a video camera?" They replied "If you object, we won't film'. They switched off the camera and I filled in some papers. They watched me doing this, making sure everything was correct. So they returned me the money basing on the decision of the criminal case termination." 

However, Lyabedzka could not refrain from joking: the politician asked whether he would have problems with this money, whether it is real. He also asked about the interest rate, as the money was locked in the KGB office for nearly two years. The KGB officers assured the UCP leader that the money was real, but there would be no interest rates. They also did not reply when they were going to return the information carriers and the diaries that he had kept in the KGB detention center. 

The politician has noted in the conversation with Euroradio that he did not cunt how much of the interest rate he could get of he had kept this $ 10 000 in a bank. Euroradio has calculated: if such sum is placed in a bank under 5% annually for 3 years, the total sum returned would have been  $ 11 777,51, including bonuses.
