Human rights defender Joachim Gauck may become new President of Germany
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has supported his candidature.
According to Merkel's words reported by ВВС, Gauck is capable of giving important impulses in
the times of various challenges, and of strengthening people's trust to
democracy.
Besides, Gauck ran
for President back in 2010. However, Merkel preferred Christian Wulff then. Let us remind you, he resigned on
Friday: he had been under criticism recently because of the accusations of
misuse of the benefits which he had as a President.
