Freedom House: Belarus is not free

According to the report, Belarus is still not a free country. It has scored 7 points in political rights (the lowest possible score) and 6 - in civil liberties, Radio Liberty reports.

90 out of 195 states are not free judging by the 2012 report published by Freedom House. The situation has worsened in 27 countries including Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. Some improvement is observed in 16 states.

Nine out of 47 countries labeled "not free" have received the lowest possible score in the field of political rights and civil liberties: Eritrea, Equatorial Guinea, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Somali, Sudan, Syria, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. 5 countries have received a slightly better score: Belarus, Chad, China, Cuba, Laos and South Ossetia.
