“Free Theatre” marks Theatre Day by remaking “New York’79”

"Who has never been here before?" —producer of “New York’79” Uladzimir Shcherban asked before the performance. A third of the present raised their hands. “Oh well, and we thought it would be a small performance for friends”, - smiled the producer.

The Free Theatre returned to Minsk viewers on March 27, 2011 - on the World Theatre Day which was quite symbolic. Actors presented a remake of the performance “New York’79” by a novel of Kathy Acker, American writer. Its premiere was on June 4, 2010.

Here is a video made in the auditorium. It shows the first few minutes at the beginning of the performance – the first time the actors appeared on stage in Minsk after their long American tour. Warning: the performance contains a lot of bad language. “New York’79” is a performance for adults!
