Amateurs of the hockey club “Dynama-Minsk” have asked announcers and commentators to cover the club’s matches in Belarusian. More than 1000 fans have signed the petition this Tuesday. The club claims that the initiative is rather unexpected.

“This is fans’ initiative and we have noticed it on the website where petitions are collected. We will keep watching the events”, - said the club’s press service to Euroradio.

The official fan-club of “Dynama” has not made the suggestion but it supports the “spontaneous” action.

“I personally think that the idea is not that bad, - says the head of the fan-club “Byzone” Andrei Markovich. – It can be realized. I think that DJs should speak Belarusian and broadcast Belarusian music. The referee could also speak Belarusian”.

The deputy director of the sports department of the Belarusian Broadcasting Company, Alyaksandr Kazyukevich, says that broadcasts in Belarusian are possible. However, it is necessary to wait for the club to translate the sound in the arena into Belarusian.
Alyaksandr Kazyukevich: “If everything is done, broadcasts in Belarusian may be considered. It will not look right if the commentator asks questions in Belarusian and translates them into Russian afterwards”.

One of the leaders of the entrepreneurs’ movement, Anatol Shumchanka, has also signed the petition. He never misses home matches of “Dynama” and considers himself to be a great fan of the capital club.

Anatol Shumchanka: “You can only hear two languages during matches: Russian and English. Russian is used for informing and English – for musical breaks. It is not normal!”
Amateur of the anthem of “Dynama” Aleh Hamenka thinks that the fans’ initiative is good and advises to do everything step by step.

Aleh Hamenka: “I have heard something about it. I think that it should not be done rapidly. However, it is essential and it would be good to do it gradually. That’s what I insisted on”.
