6 Belarus candidates short-listed for Jerzy Giedroyc award

Authors of 43 books published in 2012 applied for the award. Among them there are Syarhei Balakhonau, Alherd Bakharevich, Alena Brava, Adam Hlobus, Palina Kachatkova, Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, Andrei Pakrouski, Ales Pashkevich, Lyudmila Rubleuskaya, Yury Stankevich, Uladzimir Stsyapan and Andrei Fedarenka. This list is to be shortened by half today, informs Radio Liberty.

The Erzy Gedroyc literature award prescribes also an opportunity to publish a book in Poland, literature scholarships and invitations to the European creative houses. 

Erzy Gedroyc (1906 - 2000) - a publicist, a politician, the founder and the editor of the Paris civil and political magazine "Kultura" in the Polish language. He was born in 1906 in Minsk. In his cultural activity he promoted the idea of good neighbourhood between Poland, Belarus, Lithuania and Ukraine.
