Bookkeeper and deputy chairperson of the independent trade union REP Ihar Komlik on 2 October was released on recognizance.

Relatives, head of the trade union REP Henadz Fyadynich and human rights defender Ales Byalyatski met Ihar Komlik near detention centre #1.

Hardly anything was investigated while he was in jail, Ihar Komlik told Euroradio:

Komlik"They only brought the expertise result so that I would sign it. I had to write that I agreed with the expertise. I refused to give evidence and did not change the decision so they almost never visited me all that time.”

He received a lot of letters when he was in jail, Komlik said. He felt that people supported him. He was touched by the letter written by Ms. Lyudmila living in Narach. But she did not tell him either her surname or address and he could not thank her.

Ihar Komlik and Henadz Fyadynich were detained on August 2. They were accused of major tax evasion. REP’s Minsk office and Salihorsk office of the Free Trade Union were searched. Fyadynich was released soon afterwards while Komlik was held the detention centre No 1.
