Referendum concerning protection of historical heritage prepared in Hrodna
The documents necessary for the registration of an initiative group to organize a referendum have been sent to Hrodna City Executive Committee. Issues concerning protection and usage of the city’s archeological heritage will be discussed there. The referendum is initiated by Hrodna historians and civil activists.
They will try to prevent Hrodna authorities from destruction of old buildings presented as “reconstruction”. 50 people have already joined the initiative group.
According to its head, Doctor of History Ales Smalyanchuk, the registration of the initiative group will let activists collect signatures and conduct information seminars among the population legally. They will inform people about the current situation and the future of the Old Town of Hrodna.
