Putin: Russia is counting its money

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with the foreign media ahead of the G8 Summit in Germany that his country was not going to subsidize economies of the foreign countries. He said he did not see it logical for Russia to have supported the former Soviet republics through cheap energy supplies over the past 15 years. Ukraine alone would receive $3-5 billion in subsidies annually.

Mentioning Belarus, Putin said: "We plan to transform our relations with all of our partners on market-based prices. The time will come, and we will also do it with Belarus", reports Belapan.
