Belarus considers restoring power of attorney for cars

On June 28, the Council of Republic approved the draft bill "On including the changes and additions to certain codes of the Republic of Belarus relating to the issues of strengthening the measures of responsibility for drunk driving". This legal act was adopted by the House of Representatives in two readings at a time on June 19.



The Prosecutor General mentioned the powers of attroneys in connection with the information that it is planned to confiscate cars from the drunk drivers who committed this violation twice. According to Mr Kanyuk, quoted by BelaPAN, there's no violation of the Constitution here, since this case is set out in Article 23 of the Constitution.
 

Euroradio reminds that these amendments to the law are meant to make the punishment for drunk driving stricter.



According to the Interior Ministry, 50-55 thousand drivers are detained for drunk driving annually in Belarus.
