Prominent lawyer Stramkouskaya moves abroad

Prominent lawyer Vera Stramkowskaya, who headed the Minsk-based Human Rights Center, has left Belarus for an indefinite period, a source at the Center told BelaPAN.

Among Stramkowskaya's clients were renowned Soviet-era farm manager Vasil Staravoytaw, opposition politician Mikhail Marynich, and small business activists Syarhey Parsyukevich and Anatol Shumchanka. She also was the lawyer for the six victims in the “human roadblock” case against two traffic police officers accused of power abuse over their move to use civilian cars to capture a speeding driver this past March.
