President's office rejects dialogue invitation from European March organizers

Natallya Pyatkevich, the deputy head of the President's Administration, has sent a letter to Viktar Ivashkevich, the chairman of the committee which is organizing the European March.

The letter comes in respond to an earlier appeal from the organizers of the opposition rally.

She was proposed to have a meeting in order to discuss both the "joint staging" of the European March and the ways of overcoming the political and economic crisis in the country through launching a national dialogue and normalization of relations between Belarus and the European Union, Charter'97 reminds.

Viktar Ivashkevich told the European Radio for Belarus about what Pyatkevich wrote in her letter:

"She writes that the issue raised in our appeal to her is not in the competence of the Office of the President and that it should be dealth with by Minsk City Hall. So, our letter has been forwarded to the Minsk City Hall".

The European March is scheduled to take place on October 14 in Minsk.
