Popular Front Sojm holding meeting in Minsk

Viktar Ivashkevioch, deputy chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front (BPF), said that the BPF leaders intended to discuss the party's position on proposals by some politicians that the United Pro-democracy Forces should cooperate with the authorities.
Earlier, BPF activists called for expelling the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (BSDP) "Hramada" from the coalition after BSDP leader Anatol Lyaukovich in an interview with the state-controlled newspaper Sovetsksya Belorussiya urged opposition groups to cooperate with the authorities.

The BPF is expected to convene this fall to name a candidate in the next presidential election that is to be held in late 2010 or early 2011.

The Sojm members also plan to discuss a possible ban on dual membership of the BPF and Alyaksandr Milinkevich's Movement for Freedom.
