Political prisoner Arthur Finkevich to be released today

Youth activists Arthur Finkevich is expected to be released today after his appeal was considered by the Mahilyou Regional Court. Some 40 supporters are in front of the detention center, waiting for him.
A district court in Mahilyou in December sentenced Finkevich to one year and a half  "for term evasion". The judge today said that Finkevich would be freed.

Politician Pavel Sevyarynets told Euroradio the details of the meeting:

“Evrything happened very fast. Clearly, the decision had been prepared. The process took not more than one hour. There is a lot of police. Some 40 people, including Malady Front members, Vyachaslau Siuchyk, Ales Mikhalevich, Zmitser Dashkevich, Zmitser Khvedaruk. US diplomats, are there”.

Sevyarynets also said that Finkevich's lawyer had received a statement from the court. People are now waiting for the political prisoner to walk out free.
