Policemen not to be punished for distribution of bomb creation “guide lines”

Belarusian policemen are distributing information about making bombs with impunity. As ERB has found out, nobody is going to punish the employee of Slutsk Department of the Interior who initiated the distribution of such leaflets throughout the town. Let us remind you that “a recipe” of bomb creation was available on the door of Slutsk bus depot for more than a month. It has recently turned out that the decision was initiated by an employee of the local District Department of the Interior. The e-fit of “the key witness” was accompanied with a detailed description of the contents of the bomb that had detonated in Minsk on July 4.

As it suddenly turned out, nobody was going to deal with the distributor of the information posing a threat to the society. For example, the chief investigator of Slutsk Office of the Public Prosecutor learned about the leaflets from us although the fact had been mentioned by an official newspaper “Narodnaya Hazeta”:

“You see, I have no information about it. I cannot help you. We have not been reported about it. You should better phone Slutsk District Department of the Interior. To tell you the truth, I have nothing to say. It’s the first time I have heard it from you…”

Slutsk Department of the Interior immediately informed us that they would not conduct any check-ups. The head of the department Alyaksandr Astreika says that higher institutions may deal with it:

“You should phone the regional department. They manage our district department. It is up to them to decide whether anything should be done about it”.

The European Radio for Belarus phoned the press service of Minsk Region Department of the Interior. “I read the news about the bus depot and I think that person has already been punished”, - said the press secretary. However, she said a different thing when ERB phoned her for the second time:

“I phoned Slutsk District Department of the Interior. They said they would not conduct any check-ups”.

The press-secretary said that Minsk Region Department of the Interior was not likely to conduct the check-up either.

It seems that the policeman will not be punished. The Ministry of Information told us that they would not deal with the issue:

“It is not the job of the Ministry of Information; it should be done by the police. We control mass media registered by us. The police should control such leaflets...”

As Aleh Vouchak informed ERB, the Slutsk policeman should be subjected to disciplinary responsibility.

However, it seems that the police are not obliged to obey laws.
