Police try to disperse Kurapaty defenders near restaurant ‘Poedem, Poedim’

Міліцыя спрабавала разагнаць абаронцаў Курапатаў каля рэстарана "Поедем поедим"

Somebody brought down the crosses installed in the way to the restaurant “Poedem, Poedim” in Kurapaty on the night of June 13, Radio Liberty reports. The crosses were installed so that cars would not be able to enter the territory foi the restaurant passing across the protected zone starting 50 metres away from the memorial.

The crosses must have been brought down by the restaurant employees since they prevented cars delivering products from using ‘the illegal road’, BCD organizing committee co-leader Pavel Sevyarynets thinks.

Viasna rights defenders headed by Ales Bialiatski have joined Kurapaty defenders today. People have also arrived from Babruisk and Vitsebsk, Sevyarynets said.

A garbage truck and a truck delivering products tried approaching the restaurant at 12.30 p.m. but the protesters did not let them pass. Six policemen and driving inspectors tried dispersing the protesters. They knocked down Tatstsyana Sevyarynets. However, they did not manage to make the protesters leave the road. Traffic violation reports have been drawn up against Pavel Sevyarynets and Alyaksei Turovich.
