Photo fact: Small queues in Minsk foreign currency exchange offices
Small queues of 4-6 people appeared in Minsk foreign currency exchange offices on the evening of January 14. A Euroradio reporter noticed them in at least three exchange offices. Most people were buying small sums of foreign currency – 50-150 dollars. Some people were selling dollars but the sums were much smaller: $10-20. However, dollars could be bought everywhere.
The dollar exchange rate exceeded Br20 thousand in Belarus in January 14. BSB Bank suspended the possibility of withdrawal of dollars from foreign currency bank cards in the afternoon. It is also impossible to transfer more than $50 form a rouble card to a dollar bank card now. The other banks have not reported any restrictions of the kind yet.
